Load Default Library On Startup
« on: October 13, 2009, 08:12:58 pm »

I feel like this should be a simple one, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. How can I always load the default library on startup?
Currently MC just opens the last open library, which can be an annoyance when the last opened library was through library server. It takes a while to load and if the server isn't available it takes a while to not load then load up the default library.
Is this possible currently? I can't find a way...

How about adding /Library to your shortcut and specifying the library you want:

This works perfectly for local libraries. But I also want a shortcut to open my Shared Library on the HTPC.

I tried
mc14.exe /Library [IP address]
mc14.exe /Library [Shared Library] (the name of the library on the HTPC
mc14.exe MC14.exe /Connect m01p://[IP address] not knowing if this was for "library" server as well.

None of them worked.
Is what I want possible?

mc14.exe /Library [Shared Library] (the name of the library on the HTPC

Did you  try:

mc14.exe /Library [Shared Library]  (the name of the library on the client PC)   ?

I.e. save first a name for the server library so that it shows up as an item in the client's library list.

Is this broken in v14.0.94?  I can't get any of my "open in this library" shortcuts to work anymore. No matter which one I select, MC opens with the most recently opened library.

C:\Windows\System32\MC14.exe /Library [MC14]
C:\Windows\System32\MC14.exe /Library [Docs]

(perhaps it matters that my libraries are not in the standard place--I put them in my own custom directory right under C:\)

bump (it still doesn't work in today's version 14.0.96).  Does it work for anyone else?

I just tested the following command by running it from "Start > Run" on XP.

MC14.exe /Library XYZ

It changes the startup library from another library just fine.

XYZ is main main library and on this PC it is located in C:\MC14_XYZ\

C:\Windows\System32\MC14.exe /Library [MC14]
C:\Windows\System32\MC14.exe /Library [Docs]

Perhaps you added the brackets. You should not do that. Just write the name as it is.

Thank you Alex, that did the trick. I did have the brackets. It doesn't say in the wiki page referenced in a post above that the brackets are not to be included. Thanks for taking the time. I appreciate it.
