For The Love of God - Steve Vai (Just a preview)
« on: October 22, 2009, 04:11:40 am »

Hey guys, was just messing around with a new recording software i got and since i have a plan to play this song live with the band soon, thought i'll give a shot at recording it...

So here's just the first half of the song, need to change my strings before i attempt the second half!!  also, this is just my guitar going direct into the PC through my Korg AX3000G... Haven't been able to find any cool amp plugins yet... :/

Hope you guys like it, feedback will be much appreciated! Good or bad!

A couple of mistakes maybe... Please excuse, still a rough take...

that is some nice playing. and there are no mistakes aslong as it are inspired mistakes..

about the mix, maybe the guitar could be a bit more upfront, and less compressed.

i enjoyed listening to it 8)
very nice

Hey, thanks man... Appreciate it! :)

Yeah i hear you on the mixing... Ran into a small problem there, coz my guitar track is recording all the other tracks into it as well... So once i do a take, i cant change just the guitar volume... :S And there is no option for "Record what you hear" to turn on/off either. But thats a sound card problem i feel. Coz im using just my onboard. Need to figure something out before i complete the recording. Probably will end up recording the whole thing again! hehe

And i use a Dean guitar... Kind of similar to the 'USA 84 Modern' model on the site, but its not exactly that. Sorry i cant tell you what exactly it is, as i bought it second hand in germany and the model number was faded off... :/ The software i use is called Acoustica Mixcraft 4. :)

And thanks again for the listen... :)

Nice playing.  Reminds me of some tracks from Pink Floyds Division Bell.

when it is a software problem you might want to take a look at reaper. you can try a full version, no restrictions, it for 30 days, has even guitar amps build in. i dont like the lagg using software amps, but its a nice program. http://www.cockos.com/reaper/

when its hardware, then maybe you could say something about your setup...
