Cover Art Folder
« on: October 27, 2009, 08:07:24 pm »

Where is the best place for the cover art folder containing my DVD covers??

Is it better for MC to have the folder in the same folder as the movies?

Cheers

It all depends how you like to organize. I like to have the cover art with the music albums and movies. I always use directories, and I like that the covers is shown if people use normal windows browsing to access the files. The cover art is also moved if I move or rename a directory in MC.

I guess there are small pro and cons about both methods, but it will not dramatically change anything either way.

What other settings should I be using.

I am still trying to find out why my thumbnail art disapears. It will come back if I update library from the tags?

I'm not sure why it disappears. Mine disappeared as well last night, and I had to rebuild to get it back. Only using screen shots from in video for now.

Did you try to do a quick find in the cover art folder to get your art back? I recently discovered that the artwork that goes missing is stiull in the appropriate folder and all I have to do is a 'quickfind' to get the rogue ones back in check.

Did you try to right click on a file with missing cover art and examine the possibilities? Clue: It's under cover art.

Well i already update library from the tags and that works but its a pain having to do it all the time.

Most people here on the forum must not use DVD covers and so I guess to most its not as important as it is to me.

Thanks

Actually it remains a mystery what most of the people on this forum do with their collections...! :)

So what does this _exactly_ mean? Do you have the thumbs/cover/etc., you close your MC, you open it again and they're gone? That's a messed up database, install or worse. It happened once to me after heavily tempering with MC's storage system, but otherwise it shouldn't happen. If you create a new library with only a few DVDs, etc, do the covers stick after closing / reopening MC or not?

Hi and thank you for replying.

Not all of the covers disappear but they vanish at random like 50 series all with the same cover art 4 will disappear.

I have asked many times maybe I have my settings wrong, but I have tried lots of different settings with no success.

They come back mostly on update library from the tags but every day gets to wear a bit thin.

I have not tried to create a new library.

I can vouch that you're not crazy and imagining this. I see it frequently. I've doubted my sanity on many occasions. Maybe we're both nuts? It does seem to be happening less frequently recently.

Any idea why no one else seems to bother.

Is it because they dont use this program for video and just music??
