Ripping CD with more than 19 tracks
« on: July 05, 2002, 06:18:25 pm »

I am trying to rip a CD with more than 19 tracks.  When it comes to 20th track, everytime I encounter an error message saying "ASPI Error.  Would you like to keep further tracks?".  This is Audio-CD set of "Harry Potter" and it contains 7 discs.  The same error occurs on every CD, so it does not seem one CD specific error.  I wonder if there is any kind of miximum track number setthing somewhere.  Can anyone help me, please?

I just checked to see if I had any albums with more then 19 tracks. Two. They both ripped fine.

Maybe to get around this, for now, uncheck some of the boxes in the ripping window that comes up before ripping a cd. After that, uncheck the ones already done and recheck / rip the remaining songs. Kind of slow, but it may work for now.

There should be three numbers after the 8.0.  8.0.293, for example.

Disk space?

Copy protection?

Just a thought for matt.
I'm not sure if MJ has it but I know some rippers have a limit of 99 tracks and after that they cant deal with any more.
Could you make sure it's not a limitation that MJ has.
I know cd's like that are rare but changing it to accept cd's with up to 9999 tracks for instance isn't hard.
I once had a cd that was: 100 greatest clips or something like that.
I couldn't rip it with quite a lot of rippers cause it was 1 track over their limits.

Thanks :)

Hello everybody, thank you all for your replies.

JimH,

As for my MJ version, I am using ver.8.0.293.  I have enough disc space since I can still rip other CDs with for example 10-12 tracks quite OK.  And copy protection?  Is there any situation like I encounter copy-protected track at 19th or 20th song in the same CD?

MachineHead,

So you could rip CDs with more than 19 tracks.  Then it could be problem of my specific combination of HW and SW like MJ, OS, CD-ROM drive...  Anyway, I tried your suggestion.  Unchecking and re-checking.  For example, I selected all the tracks, and in the Copy window I unchecked all the tracks.  Then I re-checked track 27, but the same error occurs....

Hi Nila,

Thank you for your information.

Thanks,

Maybe try the latest version of MJ, which is 8.0.318.

I don't think copy protection kicks in at the end of a disc. Would kind of defeat the purpose. Your original post had an ASPI error. Possible that could need an update.

How much disk space do you have?  In GB?

Check your temp folder (look in MJ settings/options for the location) and make sure you don't have any read-only files.

Anything unusual about the filename of the 20th track?
