playing and avc1 codec in an mkv file
« on: November 03, 2009, 06:45:02 am »

hi,

i have an mkv file that plays with vlc and vlc says it is an avc1 video codec.  spent lunch break reading far too much about video codecs and directshow but have come out none the wiser.  Error message is DirectShow: Pins cannot connect due to no suporting the same transport. Code =0x80040266

I had tried downloading MPC-HC and registered the standalone codec (MPCVideoDec) and tried using this also in MC but this doesn't appear sufficient.  By error message, I have the transport or some such wrong? Any easy answers?

I haven't installed the CCCP suite.  Using 14.0.90 and Windows 7 ultimate.

Is there any way for me to get you more debug output (I have seen some earlier posts with graphs??)

Thanks
Craig

PS: Anyone got MC working with hardware decoding of vc1 and/or h.264 on their ati hd radeon cards?  This was the original purpose of my trying the MPC decoder as this supports the GPU doing the decoding.

Most likely the cause is the lack of DirectShow decoder filter for AVC format.

Try installing CCCP.
