Extracting library
« on: November 29, 2009, 09:27:40 am »

Hi PC really locking up.. Need to reinstall XP onto :C. All music files are on :D so that's ok.
But what do l need to do in MJ before hand ? I have extracted the library as an .xml doc. Is this sufficient to find my library again ?

Will wait for forum confirmation before reformat !

Thanks.

It's best to use the File > Library > Back Up Library command.

This stores your library and playlists.

Be sure to backup (or preserve) your actual MP3, APE, JPG etc. files since the library backup contains only the metadata and playlists -- not the actual files themselves.

Thank you. Also before I reinstall I need to free up space, the partition with the music files has only 2% free space left... Time to ad a hard drive has truly arrived !

Thanks
