Theater View: Use Without 3D and/or Static Background?
« on: December 04, 2009, 09:02:28 pm »

I would like to use theater view without 3D support (why?....because my PC is on 24/7 and even when I close MC my electrical power consumption stays high).  Is this possible?
Also, can I change the moving Obisidian skin background with the MC image to a static image?

Thanks!

It isn't possible to use Theater View without 3D, but the power consumption shouldn't be high if MC is closed.

That's what I would figure as well, but there is something more there.  Perhaps it's a bad driver???
I haven't had much time to look into it lately, but my kill-a-watt says I'm using an extra 20+W when theater view is launched and stays that high even when closed for a day :(

I know 20+W doesn't sound like much, but I'm trying to cut down here.....I usually have 2-3 TVs that are on 15 hrs/day as it is!

My appologies to MC as you were not at fault with the power issue. :-[
The culprit was WinDVD which was being launched from within MC.
I ended up finding out that some video-related software can interfere with things like AMD's CnC.
I fixed the issue by creating a script that "resets" minimal power management to reduce my multiplier everytime WinDVD is exited.

Thanks for reporting what you've found.  You show your strength of character by apologizing, but it isn't necessary.  Thanks anyway.
