You treat it as a "Handheld" and set the options there.

You can actually sync a folder on your hard drive and use it as a repository for all handhelds, flash memory devices, phones, etc.

Personally I do that. I sync a folder (with format conversion if needed) and copy files from that folder to various devices and also burn MP3 data discs from those files. I usually do the final copying outside MC. Sometimes I use Media Jukebox for that.

Yup, it looks like a great feature (and one I sorely miss in the other two music librarian programs I use)...

...and I would love to be able to get it to work i.e. solve the Duplicate problem.

BTW, it is really confusing for MC to refer to HD folder devices as "Handhelds".
