« on: December 11, 2009, 03:30:22 pm »

This week, our partner, La Curacao is releasing a player we've spent a lot of time on this last year.  The draft press release is below.  Congratulations to Reuven Hayun and his team at La Curacao!  Thanks to everyone at JRiver!

MINNEAPOLIS (December 13, 2009)

JRiver partner, La Curacao, has just released the second edition of its popular media player which serves the Latin American community in the U.S.  The player features a music store provided by MediaNet that offers subscription and purchase of several million tracks.  Most tracks may be purchased in high quality MP3.

La Curacao is a leader in the integration of PC software, music store, and portable media player, featuring the Sony Walkman line.  The user experience is tightly integrated and is available to consumers through La Curacao's kiosk computers, where a subscription customer can load their player with thousands of tracks without the need to own a computer.

Reuven Hayun, the leader of this effort for La Curacao, is a driving force for innovation in digital media.  He and his team have relentlessly refined the delivery system and made it simple for even novice users to enjoy portable music.

The newest version of the service also offers several thousand music videos that can be purchased for playback on a computer or a portable device.

ABOUT LA CURACAO
La Curacao has more than 1,000,000 square feet of retail space in ten stores in Los Angeles and Phoenix.  Originally a home furnishings business, La Curacao is now one of the 50 largest consumer electronics businesses in the U.S.  The store's motto is "un poco de su pais" (a little of your country).  It serves the community of U.S. consumers whose roots are in Latin America.

Thanks, but we're reluctant to express our emotions here in the Arctic.  We're more inclined to celebrate with an extra helping of lutefisk:

"In reality, the use of lye to soften a hard, indigestible base is actually a fairly common practice with many kinds of food ... "
