There is an option to store the cover art image in the music file itself when possible.  Is there a disadvantage to doing it this way?  I figure there must be since MJ offers you the option.

My guess is that it just inflates the size of your files.  I think it may because problems if using the files on portable players; I seem to remember someone posting about this a while back.

I would just go with the MJ option of leaving the files in a folder.  You won't get the cover art if you are playing on another machine, but at least your files won't increase in size too much.

If you are a Windows XP user, you will have a "Folder.jpg" image inside each of your album folders.  I have created a Track Info visualization called "Tutti Frutti" that displays these images rather than the ones that MJB normally uses.  There is also a version that will work with the MJB images.

Rhino is developing his AlbumView plug-in, for which he recommends using external images stored in the default MJ directory.  For the first version, check out the AlbumView plugin on the plug-in page.  This makes wonderful use of your album art.
