Library Server woes with high bit rates
« on: January 05, 2010, 12:59:26 pm »

Last month or so I have been streaming native 24/96kHz material over WAN to work via Library Server.

Today things are buffering like crazy. I logged in to home PC and checked it out and it's sitting idle CPU with a 3.05Mb/s upload on the network ; should be 5.

Strange....using .118 btw

Cleaned up the network at home and getting about 11000kbps upload now.

I used to have 20/20 connection with FIOS as I do design work and wanted a fat pipe, but now I have 15/5. FIOS has told me in my location they have actually apportioned 25/20 because people were getting bandwidth issues. This was a down to earth tech who did a callback for me; she wasn't trying to sell me anything.

I'm still getting issues where MC just hard buffers; doesn't feel right with .118\

I'm going to test lossless 44kHz for the rest of the day.

Definite a problem with .118 as no transcoding options are working with mp3 at VBR or CBR on either 44 or 96kHz files.

CPU and memory normal on this machine and at home.
