media server file types supported
« on: July 02, 2002, 06:11:29 pm »

JRiver,

Where can I find a complete list of file types (audio and video) that can be streamed from Media Server?

Thanks.

At this point, it's MP3 and APE.  Maybe Ogg, but I'm not sure.

Ok, so no video formats are supported?  I'm not familiar with MPC and I think OGG is audio-only.

It will be supported in next build. But WMA file can't stream so MJ will download it first. It's not a problem on LAN but over internet it will not work to good. The same goes for video files.

Video file types coming soon?  Sweet!!!

It appears MJ is headed for global domination.  Resistance is futile.  You will be assimilated.  (Ok, I'm getting a little too excited...)

Downloading instead of streaming is ok.  It doesn't take many seconds for several hundred MB's to be sent over a 100 Mbit LAN.  That makes it useable for a house.  Inexpensive 1Gbit LAN hardware will be available soon, too, making it even faster.
