Shared Library File Access Behavior
« on: January 21, 2010, 02:46:51 pm »

This pertains to the question of data integrity of the Library Database when shared across the network involving two PC that suspend

Currently I have two HTPCs sharing the Library DB on \\server\MC\DB

Both auto suspends after 1 hr of inactivity.  I understand only the first PC to open the DB gets write access.

But what happens when:

1.) HTPC 1 starts MC
2.) user changes some changes (ie: tags or imports)
3.) HTPC 1 suspends/hibernate
4.) HTPC 2 starts MC
5.) user changes some changes (ie: tags or imports)

Will the DB still be write protected during HTPC 1 suspend? If not, are the changes from HTPC 1 written to file prior to suspend so that changes made on HTPC2 can append to it?

I'm concerned about the possibility of losing changes to the DB so please let me know if this situation can run into trouble.
