Video - plays all videos in sequence
« on: January 23, 2010, 01:21:07 pm »

Got a problem I cannot find an answer to.. if i play a film from the video section, when it ends it will start playing the next film in the system and so on.

If you look in Playing Now , it shows ALL of my films. Presumably if you left it running it would play everything in the video section I have. I've tried clearing the Playing Now list, but as soon as you play the first film (or part of ) the Playing Now fills up.

What am I doing wrong ?

You can change the behavior in MC's Options.  It's under General.

Tools/Options/General/Behavior.

You can change what happens for anything listed there.  Try each option to see what happens.

OK got it to working by changing to Double-Click:Replace Playing Now (single)

But this now means that I must double click the video item, otherwise it will play all videos, whereas to play a CD from Audio I need to click item, and then click Play - its not consistent is it ?

It seems strange to me that the default setup is set to play All videos - Who sits down to play All of there films ?

Audio is set up to play one CD etc - that makes sense, why not videos also ?

I agree. The default seems odd.

Also, I think these options should be in "Playback", not "General"

Try the Play Button option called "Play Playing Now".

I use it that way.  It works quite well for TV shows, and it is consistent with playing any other set of files in a view (such as a set of audio files).  Also, some of my movies are split into multiple hunks (originally for burning onto CD), and this lets them all play seamlessly.

Music videos are another reason.

Try the Play Button option called "Play Playing Now".

Tried that keep getting "There are no files to play"

The main difference is that in Audio (and with any of the Behavior setting I've tried) you can not double click to play or add to Playing Now

Sure you can!  That's the default!

Hi!
I am new MC14 user!
And i didn't want to open another topic just because of my small problem!(similar to this)
So 1š I want to congratulate for this great program and great support here! ;)
So this is my problem :
I have a not very old computer with XP playing my original 2500 videoclips on a public place,
My choice was VLC Player playing my playlists from the organized folders in the 1TB disk (mostly .mpeg2)
So I start to have some problems with the video playback in multiple TVs
So i put my videocard (Saphire 4850X2) in this computer to do a better rendering and to add my upgrade->
And I am also upgrading to play it in 4 LCDīs
My main reason to change for MC14 is the Smart playlist (choosing tracks never played in x days)...
So i edit some tags of all clips (:( boring) in MC14 to organize the smart playlists
And for now (after 1 week editing :P) itīs all OK,

except all clips don't play from the begin (play from last time played, somewhere in the middle) Solution??? to make it play from the begin?

I would like another suggestion, must of the videoclips are in mpeg2 (around 200MB each), I already try ed .wmv witch as enough quality but less space, at home its OK (win7 and MC14 with codec cccp) , but on XP computer with the same program(MC14 or Wmediaplayer11 and codec cccp) it starts to freeze and loosing sound, except in VLC is OK.

Another suggestion because i did not try yet here at home, what should be the the Display settings out there (nearest monitor, display monitor 1,2...), with the 4 LCD,sE
Thank you for your attention
Miguel Reis

p.s. I am Portuguese, so the English is not so good ::)

There is a tag called "Use Bookmarking" which you can change.

The default will remember your position when you press stop.  If you then press stop again, it forgets the position so playback starts from the beginning.

Hello, Miguel, and welcome to Interact!  We're certainly glad to have you (and don't worry about your English, we have LOTS of non-native English speakers here, and you did well enough to be understood).

One tip though... We actually prefer that you do start a new thread, if the topic isn't exactly relevant.  This makes it easier for future users who might have the same question in the future to search and find the thread and answer their question themselves without asking the same things over and over.  When threads get many, many pages long (like they do at lots of other forums) and the topic drifts around here and there, it becomes difficult to use the forum postings as a support resource. Often when this happens, you might need to read a 5 or 10 page (or 300 in some absurd cases at Doom9 and AVSForum) thread, when the vast majority of the postings have no bearing on what you're looking for.

Just to ask
So should i open another topic for this suggestions?

I don't know much about WMV.  It uses mostly closed and proprietary codecs, so I'm not interested.  If you want to compress those MPEG-2 files, I'd recommend using H264-compressed MP4s instead.  You will get good quality, small file size, and good playback support.  Plus, should you ever get a handheld player, they should work on pretty much everything (including Apple's players and many others).  CCCP will support everything you need to play the files back on your computer.  For standard-definition files, you shouldn't have any trouble with performance, unless your computer is really old (and if so, take a look at CoreAVC).

The easiest free application to use to compress MPEG-2 to H264 is almost certainly Handbrake.  Check it out here: http://handbrake.fr/

All right!
Thank you for your attention !
And what about the situation for multiple displays
Could i have the playlist in one and the video in the other 3? for example?
Thanks
