Install Failed to Load Error - Options.xml

<< < (4/9) > >>

Matt:
I wish we were able to reproduce this.  I just installed build 50, then upgraded to the latest without a problem.

I think you should erase the C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 14\ folder by hand and then install the latest build after downloading it directly from JRiver.

Please let us know what you find.

JimH:
Also, if you have any old builds, or builds that did not come from our server, uninstall them, removing the registry entries.

Baleine:
You can try to open the task manager (of Windows), find the processus jrservice or Jrtools (i cant remember) and stop it. You should be able to continue the installation.

rickeyjt:
I did try task manager and process explorer with no luck.  This problem occurred on two of my machines the same way.  It never happened before in all the years I have upgraded mc.

What did work was the suggestion to delete the contents of the program files\jriver\mc14 folder.  This allowed the program to successfully install on both machines, libraries intact.  Odd to me is that jrtools.dll and the other files supposedly in use deleted without a problem.  For some reason the install program could not overwrite them?

Something in the installer is loading the old JRTools.dll from the install instead of the new one in the installer.  Obviously this shouldn't happen.

Since we haven't been able to reproduce it, I'm not sure what might be causing it.

Anyway, glad we found a a working solution.  Sorry for the hassle.
