Install Failed to Load Error - Options.xml

<< < (6/9) > >>

JimH:
Try turning UAC back on.

randallreid:
OK JimH;

I turned UAC back on and now get those errors again:

The following module has failed to load:
C:\Program Files\JRiver\Media Center 14\JRService.exe
It has reported the following error:
A JRiver Media Core component failed to load the product info file:
C:\Program Files\JRiver\Media Center 14\Data\Default Resources\Options.xml
Please reinstall the latest version of the program

Then I turned it off and all works normally.

So then, is MC14 supposed to work with Windows 7, 32 bit and UAC on?

Randall

JimH:
This is helpful.  Thank you.

Matt:
Media Center is fully compatible with UAC. (we even develop with UAC enabled)

Is it possible you have an old JRService.exe in your virtual store?  Search here on the hard drive:
C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

Please let us know what you find.  Thanks.

malicorne:
Bingo !!!
There was a JRiver folder in C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files. I deleted it and reinstalled MC14 without any error message. Now, eveything seems to work properly.

Matt, thank you for your efficient support (on Sunday evening !!).

I would like to ask you a question. I'm a recent user of River Media Center that I discovered 2 monthes ago when I was looking for a Media player in order to replace WMP on my computer. My opinion is that it's a very good product. Is it possible (or will it be possible) to install a version of MC14 server on a NAS ? At this time I use a Synology NAS with embedded UPnP media server, but this one is not so good. During a lot of time, Twonky Media developped such a server for some NAS but now stopped it (anyway I don't like Twonky interface !). It would be great to use MC14 as a standalone server we can install on some device.
Best regards
