Is there a possibility to have the library folder coexist with the media folders on the same partition such that it is immune to drive letter changes? The purpose would be to allow a partition or external drive to mount under any free drive letter without breaking the library pointers. The justification for this would be: now that drives are so large, one may not need to have media assets spread across multiple partitions (peace at last!). If the Media Center library simply coexisted with the media it would work wherever mounted. (I do fully understand the power of the Media Center server functionality but this question pertains to when the server cannot be employed.) Meanwhile, after many years of using Media Center, it remains a most amazing accomplishment in software. Thanks.

I think you can accomplish what you're after by using a mapped network drive.  This wiki explains it a bit:

I actually do just that with mapping network drives to a drive letter. However, when an external drive is directly attached, I sometimes must use the Windows disk manager to remap the drive. This remapping of a directly attached drive is what I would love to avoid if MediaCenter could create its library indexes with a user-settable option of having the program start from the root of whatever drive it is located on, that is, relative indexing instead of absolute. Then life would be perfect. Thanks.
