I try a mac but...
« on: February 28, 2010, 04:10:09 am »

...can't find something a little bit equal to Media center.
Itunes is a mess for me. Songbird is ok for some things but when you have the ability to do such things in Media center, it is very, very difficult to use another software.
So I bought a mac for unknown reasons, and I bootcamp to XP 15 days after. MC is back : great.

I try some music software, which is the most important for me in MC, and I find good things in songbird. The tab (like in a browser) is very intuitive. The connection with external music database is more powerful than MC. I find some concerts in my town (Lille, France) easily, even in small hall. The most important is the lyrics plugin which is awesome. I need something like that in MC, is there?

So I'm back home and happy.
Sorry for my english.

I use VMWare Fusion to run MC on my MacBook.  I really only use MC for organizing media, but music playback works flawlessly.  I haven't tried video playback, since I don't use those features.

If you run in Unity mode (try the download) it's almost like having MC for the Mac.  It's a little slower (since I run XP underneath MC), but not bad at all.

I'll second the VMWare Fusion approach. In fact, these days I am usually running Windows XP in one guest and Ubuntu in another guest. Pretty fun.
