How to prevent MC from writing to media files and chatting on-line?
What combination of settings will prevent MC from writing (anything) to my media files, including:
- updating tags (unless I explicitly make an Alt-Enter tag edit)
- embedding images (cover art)
- re-encoding
- etc.
What combination of settings will prevent MC from chatting on-line (other than media client/server chatter) , including
- requesting anything, cover art, etc. (other than a version check)
- submitting anything, cover art, ratings, usage, etc.
I do not (yet) trust MC (nor any other jukebox) to write to my library. With the current build (151) reporting erroneous duplicate files, bungled cover art, etc.; I want to prevent corruption of my library. Too much time has been spent encoding, tagging, and organizing. The idea of a separate database that can become the system of record for meta data (tags, ratings, etc.) is a nice idea. but for now and the foreseeable future, the media files themselves will continue to serve that function. Also, please turn off the mandate that forces upgrades everytime you release an update (especially when it is labeled as a "beta", as 151 seems to be).
Thank You.
