not sure if it interests you, but i was on the monkeys audio site and saw the list with programms supporting ape. there is also a recording program that can not only mixdown but also record directly to ape files. http://www.reaper.fm/

yes, very fair. and it is a nice program. im still finding my way in it but i just removed some long silences from ape files to make hidden tracks a bit less hidden. so its handy for more than just recording..  8)
