Podcasts of images.. -> mp3?
« on: February 25, 2010, 04:11:47 am »

Not sure if this is a me thing or....

I've got an RSS of images that I would like to have imported automatically using MC's podcast system. Problem is, when they come down they are getting named as xyz.mp3 instead of xyz.jpg.

Have I missed something here?

WOW! I thought I was the only one who had tried this!!

Have you seen my thread regarding 'lagging' issues? (it's not in this forum ;))

Do you experience the same kind of problems, or is it just me, or is it just Flickr?

As for the mp3 thing, I'm not sure. My Flickr feed saves the original file, as a jpg, with dates in the filename. I don't remember doing anything other than defaults to make that happen.

I'm not using flickr, rather a yahoo pipe. It's strange that i've tried the same thing with video before (though not from a pipe) which seemed to work. This obviously means that I am either doing something wrong somewhere, or something has changed since I last tried it.

FWIW, the episode url shows the file as http://xyz.com/somepath/somefile.jpg (not literally)

I can't see why the mp3 extension is being added... I must be missing something here somewhere...

I want to use a yahoo pipe too. In case anyone is wondering, the flickr rss feed shows only the last 20 images uploaded. Using a yahoo pipe allows for more images to be included.

The default 20 images are giving me enough trouble as it is, so I've not actually set the pipe up as yet, instead, hoping for some improvement in this area to come along first.

My flickr rss is set up in MC to only download requested files. Last night, I picked a couple to download and they saved as jpg's.
Did you try adding the default feed url instead of the pipe to see if that makes any difference? (though don't see why it should ?)

I'm using pipes to pull from deviantart, trying a direct feed from there yields the same result.

Yup. I just downloaded "Walkway through steam" and it came down as an mp3 file, I then double checked my flickr feed, and they are saving correctly as jpgs.

Something about the deviantart feed must be confusing MC, I would cry 'bug'!!

WOW! I thought I was the only one who had tried this!!

and i thought I was the only one  ;)

this is an small issue for me to, i use box.net amongst others and i see
2009-01-04 photo.jpg.mp3
2009-01-10 NFL.pdf.mp3
2009-02-06 File 1233917148.png.mp3

and as marko says at the end, it works ok with flickr

i have solved it by copying the files to another folder removing the false extension and then importing the files into MC as a nightly batch job
