Canīt get DLNA running...
« on: March 10, 2010, 03:32:10 pm »

- Windows 7
- Firewall ESET Smart Security 4.0 - DEACTIVATED
- MC 14.0.155
- DLNA Controller, Server, Renderer ACTIVATED, using "GENERIC DLNA"-setting
- Using Western Digital TV LIVE via WiFi-connection. Connection is OK, I can establish a connection from the WDTV LIVE to my Laptop.

When I am trying to establish a DLNA connection from my Laptop to the WD TV LIVE-box, the box will not be shown in my "Playing Now" list. I have even tried to switch off the Firewall to find out, if it is a problem with the ports - no success.

I know that it works in general, as I already established a connection 2 weeks ago with MC v151

Please see the log file from DLNA - Options within MC14:

What shall I do? Thx for help :)

Try powering the WD down and up again.

Windows firewall needs to allow ports from 52100 to 52199.

ESET isn't Windows firewall is it?

Did you try restarting both sides?  Reboot Windows.

Try wired, not wireless, if you can.

Right, ESET is a 3rd party Firewall software ( http://www.eset.com/ ). Windows Firewall is and was DEACTIVATED.
Did restart both sides.
Tried cable (wired) connection.
No success!

BUT:
Beside my Laptop with MC v155, I also have a Netbook with MC v151:
There it worked! I could see WD TV LIVE under Playing now and could also play a song on my hifi, which is connected to the WD TV LIVE

I now updated my Netbook from v151 to v155 - didnt change any other setting at all.
Result: DLNA is not working anymore!  ?

Seems that this is a problem of v155 in my opinion. Is there anything else I can report to you in regard to logfiles, etc?

It'll be fixed in 157. If you need it now, it works still in 153.

Windows firewall needs to allow ports from 52100 to 52199.

Hello all, just bought a new WDTVHD, have a WD approved wireless dongle (and it sees/plays Youtube, and sees the network). It plays everything acceptably from the attached WD usb drive. However, I'm having confusing issues logging into my PC that has the remainder of my media (and lemme tell you, I have a helluva library I'd like to tap into).

On the PC, I have MC 14.0.165. I have DLNA enabled (I think).
I don't know how to open ports 52100 to 52199. Any help (a link?) would be most appreciated.

On the WD device, it asks me to log in. I've no idea what log in it's looking for ... a workgroup user? (tried that. no dice). Admin for the wireless router? (tried that, no dice). Not sure what else I'm needing. Any help would be most appreciated.

You shouldn't need to log in to the WD.

Here's our wiki article on Network Access.

You might want to try the trial version of MC15.  Here's another WD thread.
