DLNA doesn't see Soundbridge in versions beyond 14.0.137
« on: March 15, 2010, 03:47:12 pm »

MC does not see my Roku Soundbridge devices in versions 14.0.140-155. Version 14.0.137 does see them.

For all versions of MC I configure the DLNA identically, including selecting all 3 options. It doesn't matter if I use the Generic or Soundbridge presets.

OS is Windows 7.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

We may have broken something.  But try the option for Full URL's under Advanced.

Enabling the full URL didn't work.

This BBS doesn't appear to allow file attachments, so I cannot show you the screencap of the DLNA message strings (the logging feature of MC didn't look like it captured the messages).

The good and broken versions of MC indicate:
JRiver UPnP Server Version 1.0.50 starting
UPnP Media Server Device on port 52100
 Running

Ver .137 indicates:
Media Renderer stared on port 52101
SSDP request for service type: urn: schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaRender:1; Responses: 1
SSDP request for service type: urn: schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaServer:1; Responses: 1
 (repeated multiple times)
 Received request for device description
 (repeated)

Ver .155 indicates:
< Note: no display of message string "Media Renderer stared on port 52101">
SSDP request for service type: urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaRenderer:1;Responses: 1; Interface: 192.168.2.2
SSDP request for service type: urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaServer:1;Responses: 1; Interface: 192.168.2.2
Received request for device description: Sunriver; Interface: 192.168.2.2
 ....
Received request for device description: Sunriver (Generic DLNA); Interface: 192.168.2.2
 (above repeated to varying degrees)

Note that 192.168.2.2 is the localhost

My SoundBridge is working fine with v155. The only options used on my server (under advanced) are: "DLNA", "Filter International characters"

I made an error, but I'm not sure if there still isn't a bug.

The Soundbridge devices were visible under "Playing Now" in ver .137; I could assign playlists and start playback on the devices from MC.

The SB devices are not listed in "Playing Now" .140-.155 (incorrectly assuming DLNA wasn't working correctly), but the SB devices can successfully see the MC server and play tracks.

So the difference is that MC can no longer control the devices in versions > .137. I could not enable any option in "Advanced" that would alter the function.

CONTROL- now that's a different story.  Sorry jmcafee, I assumed you were playing. I never even knew I could use MC to control my SB, since the DLNA support on that device is so primitive...

The wiki has some info on what MC supports:

It's likely to be the same problem in the xml parser that was preventing the WDTV from showing up. Try 14.0.158 (posting shortly).

Bob,

Indeed, your presumption regarding problems with the xml parser is likely correct. My SB devices now shows under "Now Playing" in ver .158.

Thanks!
