Accessing YouTube
« on: April 05, 2010, 12:26:26 pm »

I cannot play any Youtube link in theatre view. MC15 (and MC14) just says that I have not got the right software installed to play it. Obviously it all plays fine in IE8 or Firefox so this isn't true.

Help please.

To play an FLV video in the player natively (not through Flash on a webpage), you need codecs installed.

You might try installing CCCP.

I have installed a more recent version of the codec pack as suggested, but it still doesn't work.

More suggestions please.

Just to add that if I play a youtube video from within media centre via the google search in the start up page - it plays fine.

YouTube in Theatre View doesn't work for me either (in MC14 or 15).

The URLs (according to the Filename field) are being recorded as webmedia\\YouTube\[video code]. It's behaving as if IE is trying to open this directly. It doesn't get past the unknown "webmedia" protocol.

Curious if you solved this issue and if so, what the solution was. I have the problem now with MC16.

Thanks.

I don't know what was done, but it was fixed. Now the problem is back.

Coming in build 16.0.63 and later:
Fixed: Updated YouTube support for recent YouTube site changes.
