Uprading from 10 to 15
« on: April 06, 2010, 11:38:49 pm »

Hello all -

I recently purchased a new PC on which I installed Windows 7.

Hearing about this great deal on 15, I got a copy of my registration code and re-installed v10.

A perusal of the Help/Registration Info menu returns the following:

Product:      Media Center 10.0.173 (registered)

However, I get the following informational message every time I run v10.

"This version of Media Center must be activated by running it once with at least Power User privileges.
After this activation, Media Center can be run only with guest privileges
Unactivated Component: C:\Windows\System32\mcmimeman.exe"

I click "OK" and it lets me into v10 without issue.

And, yes, I am the Administrator.

I wouldn't really care, but it appears I cannot update to v15 for the introductory price.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

There's no need to install the old versions.

Just install v15.  Run it.

Then restore your v10 license.  Then purchase through v15.

Thanks.
