I have a simple uncompressed wav file which plays fine but I am unable to convert it using advanced tools/convert. MC15 crashes and shuts down. I've tried converting it to different formats mp3,wma etc but as soon as I press the start MC15 crashes. Any idea why?

I'm using Windows 7 64bit but I didn't have this problem afaik with MC14

Could you try some other files (and types like ape or mp3) to see if it's file specific?

Sorry, I was wrong when I said it would play. I tried to play it and I get a message about not having the correct directshow filter. Yet Windows Media Player plays it fine. I think Windows Media Player is 64bit on Win7, maybe it is a problem with the way Win7 handles 32bit media.

Other files, mp3 etc convert without any issues. So it is just this one file type. Not the end of the world.

It's probably a compressed WAV file.  It's not too common, but WAV can use all sorts of screwball compressions.

Could you provide a link to the file or email a copy of it to matt at jriver dot com?  We'd be happy to take a look.

Thanks for the file.

It's GSM 6.1 encoded, which we don't natively decode.  We would use Directshow filters if you had one installed that handled this format.

We're investigating native support.
