MP3 conversion problem
« on: April 08, 2010, 03:13:29 pm »

Hello all,

I've just purchased Mediacenter 140161. I have used the older versions for 5 years or so and I have a problem with this new one:

I used to have a right mouse dropdown menue item (edit with mediacenter) to convert back and forth from mp3 to wave and so on. Now there's only the "Play in Mediacenter" how can I get the old tool/dropdown menue item?

Plus I had a lot of trouble finding the mp3 encoding downloads. I could only find one in an older version (10), which I've installed, but still no edit function in the xp pro explorer.

I managed to convert from wave to mp3 within the mc software itself after a lot of searching, but this new version is so user unfriendly that it's really too time-consuming to be any real practical use to us. Is that normal? or am I doing something wrong? and how come there aren't any audio conversions plug-ins available for this new mediaplayer?

Should I go back to an older version where this feature is very easy to use?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Right click on an audio track in MC, choose Library Tools, then Convert Format.

Yes, I noticed that, but it was so much more convienient to just right click in the windows explorer without having to import stuff into the mc software first. Is there a way round this problem or should I install an older version like the 10 ?

Thanks

Maybe you don't have "Shell Integration" enabled in MC settings.  There is a search window in settings now.

Tools/Options/General/Enable Shell Integration.

Then reboot.

Thank you JimH, that's fixed it. I didn't know what "Shell Integration" meant! I'm a Brit, but live in Germany and have worked for years with german language softwares also as computer admin for a large company. I don't seem to remember doing this with the early versions of this excellent software....been using the jukebox for djing for years too...have expenci´ve software for that, but I always come back to the j river jukebox 'cos it's so practical to use..just another question aside, I've got fading problems on my dj laptop (Toshiba, xp pro, 2 years old, external firewire audio card) it's been just crashing rather than cross-fading....another thread? or any ideas? it just suddenly started doing it.

I just noticed that you're admin. Thank you for catching my post so swiftly, it would've driven me nuts...just goes to show that you learn something new every day.
I'm still curious though why there weren't any plugins- for this version (yet?)

Kind regards

Try switching playback options from Direct Sound to WAV Out, etc.

Try updating the driver for the audio hardware.
