Is there something wrong with my system?

Why do MKV files take so long to open?

How long is it taking? Where are they stored (locally/external drive/network share)? Codecs/Filters?? System Details?

They sometimes take about a minute.

System is windows xp Stored localy cccp ans coreavc codecs installed

It should only take seconds.  Play one of you problem videos, "right click on it --> direct show filter --> copy graph info to clipboard" then paste the details here.

I think there was a problem with my haali splitter.
Oddly K-Lite seemed to resolve it all by repairing my directshow system.

Could the problem be that coreavc installs haali splitter and there is one in cccp? should I uninstal one of them?

I am also having intermittent problems using pass through with cccp codecs sometimes the dts will not play.

I have now reverted back to cccp 2008 version which seems to work.

Assuming you have CoreAVC 2.0, the Haali version in it is better/newer than the CCCP build.  Haali actually worked with the CoreCodec people to build a new version that worked well in Windows 7 (even 64-bit).
