When attempting to analyze multiple m4a files, MC crashes.

This was happening to me in 14.0.155. It didn't used to but I don't know how far back it was working for me. I downloaded 15, installed and restored from library hoping that the new version would work, but....it still happened.

I keep a smartlist ( [Media Type]=[Audio] ([Replay Gain]=0 or [Peak Level]=0 or [BPM]=0 or [Intensity]=0) ) and then analyze the files during my regimen of tagging new files. If I analyze only one file, it completes successfully, however, if I select more than one file MC consistently crashes.

Things I've tried:
Rebooting
Allowing MC to reset" some settings"
I changed setting to allow analyze on import and it still crashed. I did, however, notice that MC analyzed a greater number of files before crashing. (I typically have this disabled because I prefer to do many files at once due to the time required)
I didn't uninstall/reinstall as this happened on a clean install and on MC 14(I'll do it if asked in forum though).

I discovered that it was only one folder of files that was causing the failure, so...

On a hunch, I converted the files to wav and forced 16bit 44.1Khz. I then converted back to m4a. MC was then ok with the files for analyzing. It turns out the original files were 16bit 48.0Khz with a much higher bitrate. I'll save the original files in case anyone needs to look at them.

Should this have caused MC to crash?

Sent 2 files 4/22 (had to split them to 4 emails with winRAR due to my email client)

DC-Bass filter crashed while trying to play the files.

Your files contain ALAC encoded audio.  DC-BASS is the only known free DirectShow filter to handle ALAC audio.  The filter however can not handle your files and crashes.  Even if it does not crash on occasions, it outputs noise.

So, it appears that you have some files that are

either corrupt
or contains something only Apple can handle.

Are these files protected by Apples digital rights management?  Normally they would have extension m4p, but some people have them with m4a.  If the files are protected, you should rename the extension to m4p and in MC route the file type to Quicktime engine. Apple's protected audio files can not be analyzed.

No, they were not protected files. I'll just re-encode w/dBpoweramp if I should run into it again.
