No luck. Input address, received strange error message (see below), followed by crash. Running .305:

Strange, because the server on my home computer worked perfectly today. Problem at your end?

Same as Charlemagne8.  Your router may be blocking port 80.  Or you may have something else (like a web server or music sharing software) already using 80.

jackhack30,
No one so far has been able to connect to me. I might have firewall problems, too.
Try to connect to this one:

I live in a tiny villiage in England and the phone cables are SH!&. I have a v90 56k modem, but it connects at around 26400.
As long as I know it works, I can use it when we move to an area with ASDL/Cable etc.

Charlemagne 8 - your ip address 192.168.1.1 is a private address, that is, it cannot be used on the public internet. My guess is that you are behind a firewall (a Linksys or something similar) and that has an external ip address that could be used to connect to.

In this case someone would need to connect to a.b.c.dNext Pageortx and the firewall would be set to forward the connections to "portx" on your firewal to your internal system port 80 (or whatever port you choose). Check out your firewall documentation under forwarding.

217.134.217.33 works as far as connecting to you. I can't play anything. That could be your speed. KingSparta's is working well even as we speak.
How did you find that client IP? Did you do anything to your firewall?
I would like to get my Media Server functional.

Gatobrit,
Thanks. My firewall is ZoneAlarm. I'm not sure about the documentation because it's the free version. I'll look and see.
Namaste to you, too.

KingSparta,
Never heard Acoustic Alchemy before. Love it. Thanks.

C8,
It should be up to your router to decide where to send inbound requests.  Your firewall just says yes/no to whatever you tell it to (or should).

Zonealarm can be quirky. I elected pass-lock for MJ and the server, still have trouble connecting from the office, but if I disable it before I leave, no problems. Not comfortable going naked however.

"Not comfortable going naked however"
Ditto.

JimH,
It has been suggested that my USB DSL is a router of sorts. Not sure what to do with that information, though. This router-firewall-IP address stuff is all over my head.

An IP address is a telephone number.

A router is a switchboard operator.

A firewall is a traffic cop.

A PC is a big scary sandbox.
