Is there a way to turn everything off except audio?
« on: June 05, 2010, 03:48:40 pm »

I'm mainly interested in playing high resolution audio.

I don't want video, could care less about cover art, is there anyway to make the video stuff just go away?

I have a bunch of apple lossless files .m4a

I get an error message saying direct show cannot connect the pins or whatever - error code 0x80040266

I am configured thru Wasapi and don't want direct show to play and video - any way I can turn it off?

I can play wav files OK -

Also, any way to substitute a different keyboard short cut for volume so I don't have to hold down the control key?

In foobar, I can configure just one key - set a keyboard by my listening station and control the volume with one hand.

Welcome to Interact.

Take a look at Tools/Options/General/Features.

M4A is not a great format for compatibility.  APE or FLAC would be better.  It can be used though.  There is a recent thread on it here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=57926.0

and a wiki article:

See the User Defined Global Keyboard Shortcuts wiki entry. Any MC command can be assigned to any key/key combination. The assignment can be global or for MC only.

thanks for your help, and responses.

Still fighting with the .m4a issue. that is the bulk of my stuff.

MC 15 seems to lock down the sound card - can't get foobar to run even if I shut media center down.

Frustated that I can't listen while fooling around _grin_

WASAPI can be run in Exclusive mode or not.  It's a setting in MC.  Exclusive means exclusive.  You could set MC to DirectSound until you get it going.

One of the links provided by Jim is on m4a playback.  Look to near the bottom for ALAC and DC-BASS.  Also do a search of the forum on m4a and DC-BASS.

Have installed the latest version of DC bass

from this thread linked to

http://forum.dsp-worx.de/viewtopic.php?p=2085#2085

Am getting sound from .m4a files, but it warbles - kinda like a smooth skipping.

Have tried changing buffer, and

have installed

Combined Community Codec Pac 09-09-09
dBpoweramp-Codec-m4a.exe
DirectShow FilterPack
dcbasssource_pre_1.2.0

When I extend the buffering time under Wasapi options - I lose sound on the track I am attempting to play

Have clicked a bullet in box for FFD show audio processing in the DSP part of options
