Rip CD UI (and a bug)
« on: June 24, 2002, 04:58:52 pm »

Would I be out of line if I suggested tweaking the Rip CD user interface? (8.0.302)

a) There seems to be some inconsistency between "Rip" and "Copy" when it comes to buttons and dialog box titles.

b) The "CD Copy Finished" dialog box doesn't have focus.  Hitting space or return doesn't dismiss it.

c) After clicking on "OK" (in the above dialog box) the Copy CD window comes up briefly.

d) When a new CD is placed in the drive a "Gathering info..." dialog box comes up, and then a CDDB lookup dialog box comes up.  Both have a cancel button and both seem to accept the input focus.  I'm not sure of that.  It just seems a bit cluttered to have so many dialog boxes popping up (sometimes I think you also get a "Analyzing Devices" DB).

The bug: Turn on eject CD after ripping.  Rip a CD.  When the CD ejects put in a new one (one that the system hasn't seen before).  Close the CD drawer.  Click on OK.   This seems to lock up my system.

Something else to go along these lines. If I name a blank and burn it , the next blank inserted retains the same name. Anyway for MJ to leave the most recent, and un-burned, blank as a blank? Did that make sense?

BTW - These 'blanks' are not expletives.

Or - Please, no blank expressions for this request.

Did I make myself 'blank' clear?

I could amuse myself for hours like this. Next Page
