Lossless m4a?
« on: June 13, 2010, 01:01:30 pm »

Is there any support for lossless m4a files in Media Jukebox? Or is there any way to add support for it?

You need to install the DC-Bass Source DirectShow filter. More info:

I installed the DC-Bass Source filter as shown and still nothing (I get an error message that it won't play back the file type).

What am I missing?

Thanks for any suggestions...

It appears that the problem was that I was using DC-Bass Source ver 1.1.1 and not ver 1.2.

However, the link above to the ver 1.2 download is broken.  I managed to find it in the K-Lite Codec package but didn't install the rest of the codecs and can now play ALAC m4a files

I looked for a download for just ver 1.2 but couldn't find one.

Is a hyphen in a file name a unicode character?  That is the only thing that appears to be in the filenames that would prevent v.1.1 from working.

Thanks for the assistance.

Sorry, it appears that the problem is a little stranger than I thought.

I can actually play most ALAC files but there are about 190 m4a files that I have that MC15 won't play.  iTunes and quicktime will play them with no problem but MC15 won't.

I converted the files from FLAC to ALAC using dBpoweramp.

Any ideas?

Latest step was to reconvert all of the FLAC files to ALAC.  Still no go.

Does anyone have a clue why MC15 will play most ALAC files but won't play these files?  They will play under iTunes or Quicktime so the files are not corrupt.

I finally got it working.

Didn't really change anything.  Just changed stuff back and forth a few times.

It seems that MC15 is a little flaky when it comes to ALAC files.
