Group by folder, PlugPlayer & MC 15
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:31:03 pm »

Hello All:

Kindly help me with a small issue (hope so).

I am using PlugPlayer on iPad. I used the expression: =ListItem([Filename (path)],Math(ListCount([Filename (path)],\)-1),\) in Manage library fields to group the items by folder, marko helped me at http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=56578.0

Here is the screen shot

Now I am using following settings to get the sort/group by folder in PlugPlayer also. With these settings, MC 15 is showing what I intended but PlugPlayer is showing something else either that I don’t need. It is showing “<unknown>” at different place, I suspect it tries to pull album and artist names. Please see the following.

Image copied from www.computeraudiophile.com and eidted to show the problem

PlugPlayer list display where I choose the songs

01 - Lost in Love - Air Supply
<unknown> - <unknown>

PlugPlayer main display

<unknown>
01 - Lost in Love - Air Supply
<unknown>

Kindly help me solve this, I don't want PlugPlayer to display this <unknown>

Regards

That's a very nice post...
I was trying to find a way to play my MC files on the ipad.

Have you found the solution to your problem?

will plugplayer just play the files from server on ipad? or will it also remotedesktop then CONTROL the jriver in our theater rooms? or would we need to do the slow remote desktop connection way?

Thanks

No I have not found the solution yet, the developer says that if metadata is missing then this will happen. He'll try to sort this in next version. I use .wav files and it is difficut and non-standard to tag them with Artist and Album information.

xtacbyme! PlagPlayer is verstile and if you press the Devices button on its screen you can choose the player and the server. PlagPlayer could be player (called renderer in PlugPlayer) of a DLNA server by pulling the songs from it or can make the server play the songs itself by functioning like a reomte. I was using it as a remote to a server. Then there can be more than one servers. I also played a song from one laptop to anohter.

Thus, by mix and match of server and renderer you can do many things.
