I'm a new user with MC starting with V15. When I first began using it, I could rip CD after CD. Then, after ripping one CD, when I went to rip a second CD, I began to get the error message: "... detected new DC ... cannot get volume information. Please try ejecting and reinserting."

The suggestion doesn't help. The only way I can rip the next CD is to close MC and restart it. It gets to be a pain to do that for every CD.

I've gone through the reinstall procedure twice with the latest versions with no success.

Suggestions?

i've tried it in both drives and get the same error message

with the first cd i get the error message but it rips the cd, each cd after that i get the error and it won't rip the cd

It might be some security software running.   Just a guess.

What OS are you running?

i changed the setting to rip the cd 'secure' and now i get this error: read track failed. failed to extract digital audio

this was the same cd that i was able to rip earlier today when not using the 'secure' ripping

What's the full version of MC?  15.0.58 is current.

Since it seems to be related to ripping multiple CDs, this could be a MC bug (I haven't tested multiple CD rips, and I don't have more than one audio CD handy to test it now).  However, it might be worth checking this thread and try out the troubleshooting tips I listed: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=58380.0

Just in case it is just you.

i found out the ripping problem was due to a hardware problem with my cd drive. guess it was a coincidence it happened at the same time i installed version 15.

i havent tried multiple ripping yet, so not sure if that was a media center or cd drive problem yet
