"Playing Now" often skips over a song?

I first noticed this with .293 and still does so on .300
All my music is WMA-64bit in order to fit on my laptop.
I sent all of them [1900|PLS|] to "Playing Now" just so I can hear all of them [eventually].
Very often MJ skips over a song and somtimes more than one.
I tried a small list - 10 songs and the number of songs in the list does not matter. It still skips a song sometimes.
When I try to backup and play the skipped ones, it sometimes has trouble stopping on the one I want to play, but eventually I can get it.
It skips more often when I manually click the 'next track' arrow.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Does MJ skip specific songs or the skipping is random?

This may be way to obvious.........but, I have encountered the same problem, always after I had modified the original source file within Windows (i.e. Change the name or move the file, etc.)

This will cause MJ to skip the song during playback.

I fixed the problem by deleting the offending song under the "Media Library" tab and then finding it manualy in "My Music" , Select it, right click then "import"

It worked for me! Hope this is not to remiedial for you!!

Random. If I go back up a few, it may or may not skip... random...
I played with the "performance setting" in 'playback', but does not seem to make any difference.
Sometimes when I go back or go forward, or even go dirctly to a song, it stops and I need to hit play again..., but only once in a while.
It almost loks as if it does all this when trying to fill its buffer up, but not too sure...
It happens sorta quick, but I don't see the "open" when it decides to stop..

You don't have a playback filter set do you? (the right-most button under the volume slider)

Thanks for the info...
I deleted everything from MJ library and re-imported the whole lot...
Still skips songs.
If I click prev track a few times to get back up to before the skip and try again it does not skip...
Hmmmm..... bummer...

I hovered my cursor over it and it said Playback FilterNext Pageff
Just had a thought....
I converted all this music from my MP3's [high bit rate] on my home computer to 64-bit WMA for portability on my work laptop.
When I get home, I will see if it does it there.
If not, perhaps it could be because of WMA vs. MP3.. or maybe bit size....
Well, instead of speculating, I will find out and replay then....

I tried it on my home PC using MP3's and no skipping....
I am now in the process of converting the WMA's back to MP3 on the laptop to see if it's an environment thing or a WMA thing...

Test result....
I created a playlist with about 25 .OGG files that were converted directly from the WMA files that I had skipping problems with. I did the conversion from the laptop.
I also added about 25 MP3 files.
The at the end of the playlist I added the WMA files I just converted.
So I have a plalist that has:
.OGG  [all between 70-80 bit rate]
.MP3  [all above 160 bit rate]
.WMA  [all fixed at 64 bit rate]
the filetypes are grouped together, not interlaced.
The .OGG and .MP3 played perfectly with no skipping around.
Then when I got to the WMA files, it began to skip over songs, but if I click prev to go back up, it still skips, but not necessarily the same ones it skipped previously.
So.... I converted a bunch of MP3's to WMA's on my home computer just to see if it happens there and it does... skips just like the laptop did.
And so it would seem there is a problem with WMA playback on MJ.
Can you recreate this?
Just convert about 20 or so to 64bit WMA and giver 'er a try. Not sure if the bit rate makes a difference, but 64 bit certainy creates a problem.

I spoke too soon, I can reproduce this behavior under heavy CPU load.
We will fix it in next build.

Please download new plug-in (WMA - 2.0.37) from our plug-ins page.

Encoder plug-in is for creating files, input plug-in is for playing them.

Will you be bundling this *new* plugin in future builds?
Is it that I had an old plugin? Did this old plugin come with the current build or did I miss a note that indicated I needed to get it before?
