I ripped a lot of DVDs with MakeMKV, so the audio\video streams are all still MPEG2\AC3.

All files can be played by MC, but some files are missing Dimensions or Compression/Duration/Bitrate info.

Out of  124 files:
- In 91 files MC read all info
- In 02 files MC read Compression/Duration/Bitrate but not Dimensions
- In 31 files MC read Dimensions but not Compression/Duration/Bitrate

Any idea why?

Can I force MC15 to try again to scan those files for the missing data?
Also, is there any log I can activate to see if MC15 logs any error when it attempts to read those files?

Try "update library from tags" and see if the compression info gets filled in. Please report back.

No luck with the two files missing Dimensions info

Is there anything else I can try to fix this?

Not sure if this is related. I rip a lot of dvds to h264 mp4 using consistent tools and procedures. Every once in while MC does not correctly recognize the bit rate.

I'm not sure it's related, it might be though. A couple of things come to mind with video. The first is that the codec classification has changed somewhat in MC since we started doing the compression field. The other is that generating that information is dependent on the underlying ability to build a filter graph. If you've updated/changed the ability of your PC to handle different codecs you would see different results here over time even if you've used the same tools for ripping.

Thanks. Just to clarify. Rip created with same tool and procedure. No change to PC codecs. MC imports, builds thumbnail, and plays ok. Only problem is that once in a while MC reports a bitrate of 1. Other video codec inspection tools see the correct bitrate. This is very low priority to fix. Just wanted to make you aware of it.

I can attest that (with several thousand mkv files, all h264 encoded, with DD, DTS, TrueHD or DTS-HD MA) MC is hit or miss with finding that info. The files can play without problem, so clearly the graphs can be built. I've just learned to live with it for now.

Yep I can live with it as well.

It's just a little bit frustrating that, on the same Windows machine and at the same time, all other tools and also Windows Explorer can detect the Dimensions of all files that MC cannot detect. (I don't know if Explorer is actually using a tool I've installed or if it's doing it natively) 

Note that Dimensions is the only value MC cannot get on my machine on some files. All other values (Compression, etc.) were read by forcing a rescan of the files.

Well, I just hope JR will find time to fix it sooner or later.
