Lookup Movie Info From Wikipedia hit rate
« on: October 01, 2010, 03:14:00 pm »

FYI

When a movie is not found in Wikipedia by MC, I just google with a browser to find the last part of the Wikipedia page URLs about that movie and use that as a search string in the MC Lookup windows.

Example:

Search: "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)"
 -  MC can't find it

Search: "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring"
 -  MC still can't find it

Search "The_Lord_of_the_Rings:_The_Fellowship_of_the_Ring"
 - MC now finds the wikipedia page

The Wikipedia page is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings:_The_Fellowship_of_the_Ring

I've found that I can ALMOST always get the movie to come up in MC's built-in search by adding "film" to the end of the search.  This most commonly works for movies adapted from books where Wikipedia has entries for both of them, but there are other instances where searching for the simple movie name doesn't find it, but adding "film" does.  I'm not sure why.

But, yes, occasionally I have to resort to googling "wikipedia [Film name]" and then pasting in the actual page title.
