Artist not in alphabetical order in drop down list

Under Artist in the column to the left, the artist are not in alphabetical order but in the main view window in the middle of the screen the artist are all in alphabetical order.  Every time I add a new artist in seems to show up somewhere near the bottom of that drop down Artist list to the left.

How do I fix this??

You can use View > Customize View to change settings for a library view.

If you're describing a Category (also called a Pane), you can change the sorting by picking that category in the Customize View dialog and customizing it.
