FTP-Upload / Resizing - Documented Feature missing!
« on: October 17, 2010, 06:10:35 am »

The MC15 Manual in chapter Upload files to Web or FTP Server writes:
...
3. The FTP File Upload dialog box opens. Insert the following information:
    * HTML Page. If "Generate HTML Index Document" is enabled, provide Title, subtitle and a name for the index file. Set the thumbnail size.
    * If you are uploading images, select the Image Option button to modify the size of your pictures. The original pictures will not be affected.
...
=======================

Those features are missing in the current implementation of MC15!!! It would be nice to have those features implemented as they are already used in other related functions (Shared to Web / Picture Resizing)

We have MC15 implemented in a small church community with 8 users using MC15 on Win7 to organise their media files. They frequently upload images to their CMS driven Web-Site. They only need to ftp the images at a fixed size to their Web-Site. Everything else (like creating an album and thumbnail generation is automatically created by the CMS. Right now they use a combination of MC15 (for selecting), IrfanView (for resizing) and FileZilla (for transfering) - quite a complicated process.

It would be nice, if this could be done in one go as described in the MC15 documentation. Thank you for listening!

If you are going to implent it, index page generation and thumbnail creation should be optional.

Would it be possible to have this nifty feature of being able to batch-resize images when uploading them via FTP?

Select an image, then Send to/Email and Web and you'll see it.

Thanks JimH,

Oh yes, I see it, this is exactly the place I am writing about, it's there, but only for email not web/ftp.

SendTo > Email/Web > Mail recipient...        >>> Resizing is available here!
SendTo > Email/Web > Web or FTP Server... >>> Resizing is NOT available here!!!

Could you resize first?

No, I get the form "FTP File Upload" right away, then I enter the ftp server/login/password info, then it properly updates to the the ftp server, but a "Resize pictures" form never apperars.

With Email Recipient I get first the form "Email Pictures" where I can resize first and then mail.
