Any improvement in YouTube playback?

Sort of.....

I'm testing in Theater View.

Video's start playing immediately and then 3-5 seconds later, you see "Buffering..." in the OSD. At this point, MC appears unresponsive and then 1-2 minutes later, playback resumes.

Once playback starts, things are fine and seeking the stream now works a lot better than before (not hanging).

It seems the only issue now is how long it takes for playback to commence. Other than this, things are looking better.....

[EDIT] Something terrible's happened to the picture quality though. It's really blotchy and grainy. Looks fine in a browser.

I noticed this too, but hadn't got round to reporting it. Haali's video renderer & IIRC VRM9 seem broken in the most recent builds. Switching to EVR fixes things, although it's not a long-term solution.

I'm actually not using Haali renderer and am still noticing poor YouTube playback quality. Even if I explicitly choose EVR (for Flash video) VMR9 is always loaded instead!

Is the quality issue found with only FLV or with mp4 too?

I think we switch off EVR when playing FLV video because the flv decoder has trouble working with EVR.

I've only noticed it with FLV but if vmr9 has always been used, something else must be causing the poor PQ because this only started recently.

I've played a bit more with the buffeting issue too. So I'm finding that each time mc buffers (once always in the first few seconds playback) the time required to buffer is extremely long. About a minute Each time on my system.
