File Conversions - Number of Threads/Cores Used
« on: November 26, 2010, 12:38:53 pm »

I must be misremembering, but I thought there used to be an option to specify how many CPU cores to utilize when converting files, say from FLAC to MP3.  Was that removed?  Was it never there?  Or am I just not finding it?

Right now, MC will convert two files at a time, just like it did on my old Core2 Duo system.  Now that I have upgraded to a six core processor, I was hoping to triple, or at least double, that number.  Not possible?

(for posterity, i.e., in case this thread shows up in someone's forum search query months/years from now)

The option doesn't seem to be directly accessible under the primary (Tools-->Options) options, but when one is presented with the Convert dialog box, if one clicks the "Options" button there, the number of simultaneous conversions can be specified.
