The sound of silence
« on: December 13, 2010, 09:08:56 am »

Using the Media Editor I created a FLAC containing 500 ms generated silence
(Did so because of this: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=60993.0)
In the Media Editor it plays.
Load in in MC and the moment you play it, MC stays in buffering mode.
Is there a minimum size or is it because it is a bitrate of 2?
Anyway, why does it play in the editor but not in MC?

Have you enabled the option to suppress silence in Options > Audio?

Had the problem on a XP box.
Now using Win 7 even a file containing 1 ms of silence only plays fine.
Looks like this is not MC related.
Thanks

Matt,
You where right.
Unchecked "Do not play silence" solved the problem.
However, if one has a file with 'silence' and this option checked MC will hang by design.

It should not hang.  It will be busy playing the file (showing 'Buffering...') but there is nothing to play.

You should be able to press stop at any time.
