Rando track playing
« on: January 21, 2011, 02:14:04 pm »

hi,
I'm using the latest JRiver software on a trial basis to decide wheather to buy it or not.So far i'm very impressed with it. What i would like to know is it possible to play random tracks from your entire album collection, i don't mean from a single album or shuffling the tracks from a single album but to play tracks at random from the entire collection.

many thanks in advance.

Welcome.

You dont do Random as you are used to thinking about it.

MC always plays a list in order.  You either shuffle the list or not.  Not a big deal as long as you dont want to stop "Shuffle" and have it continue with album it is currently playing.

Fortunately there are a few different ways to achieve that if it is your goal.

One easy way is to simply right-click on the track playing and select "Locate Inside MC"
Another is to right-click the status bar up top.
Or click on the "Arrow" next to the album in the playlist.

There are more complicated options from within Theater View that I am tinkering with this weekend.

This is not the whole thing. There's the 'radio' feature. Try the menuoption under 'player\play radio'.
You can just start it or use a song as a seed and you can also narrow the choice for random songs by
pressing the button 'edit radio files' on the popup dialog.
