Does Media center cache the audio file in ram before sending out the music to a DAC?  Amarra apparently does this.

Tools -> Options -> Audio -> Play files from memory instead of disk (not zone-specific)

It can, though it doesn't by default:

Tools -> Options -> Audio -> Settings -> Play Files from memory instead of disk

EDIT: Doh!  You beat me by about 30 seconds, Arbiter.  Probably while I was messing around with the font color!
