It'll be rebuilding the thumbnails database :)
Leave it for a while and they'll rebuild. Alternatively, you can copy in the MC15 thumnails DB, although this isn't a reccommended or supported option.

It may take a while to fill in.

Or your cover art directory may not be correct.  Tools/Options/File Locations.

You can backup your library from MC15 and restore in MC16 (with settings if you choose).

MC16 changes the set cover art location when it imports the MC15 settings and the old location is the default, i.e. ...[user]\[application data path]\J River\Media Center 15\Cover Art . The new location is ...[user]\[application data path]\J River\Media Center 16\Cover Art . However the MC16 installer does not change the paths in the "Image File" library field values and it does not move or copy the existing cover art files. The MC15 uninstaller may delete the cover art files because they will remain in the old location.

Here is a suggestion to JRiver:

Change the default path to
...[user]\[application data path]\J River\Common\Cover Art
so that it will be the same in all future MC versions.

Perhaps even an "all users" path could be possible, e.g.:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\J River\Cover Art
(this is from XP, it would be a bit different in Vista or Windows 7)

An "all users" location would make the same cover art files available to all Windows users.

Would the cover art directory apply if the cover art is also stored in the tag?  A large portion of my cover art in MC 15 doesn't reside in the cover art directory that is specified, and is (I think) only in the tag.  All the cover art appears in MC 15.  ?

What does the Image File library field say? Is the field value "Inside File" ?
You can add the Image File field to "Action Window > Tag" or as a column to a list view. The latter would be better because it can display the field values of many files.

Also, could you explain what exactly you mean by "I have no Cover Art?"

For example:
- not visible at all. No cover art images can be seen anywhere.
- not visible in the "cover art" display visualization during playback, but visible in the Standard View as thumbnails.
- not visible in standard library views, but visible in the "cover art" display visualization.
- not visible in Theater View.
- only some of the files don't have cover art.
- or something else, please explain...

Image field=Inside file

No Cover art= I can see no cover art where there should be cover art (no thumbnails, no art in theater view, no art in cover view, etc.) My library in MC 15 has cover art for every file.

hope that helps clear things up...

I don't know what is going on. If cover art is "Inside File" then it at least should show up in the standard cover art visualization during playback, even if the thumbnails are not yet build or MC is somehow prevented from saving the thumbnail cache files correctly.

As a test, could your select a bunch of files and do: right-click > Cover Art > Rebuild Thumbnail ? Can it create the missing thumbnails?

Tried rebuilding and the thumbnails did not appear.  Interestingly, the Image File discussed earlier went from 'Inside File' to blank after rebuilding the thumbnails

Could this be a Windows 7 permissions thing?  I noticed that I can't get MC16 to search for cover art either?  Works fine for MC15.

If it's a permissions thing then right-clicking on the MC16 shortcut and selecting "run as administrator" may clear it up.

It WAS permissions.  Granting MC 16 admin permission worked like a charm!  Just purchased the MC 16 license.  All is right with the world! ;D
