How to write the TENC / Encoded By Tag
« on: February 15, 2011, 04:21:12 pm »

The definition of TENC from ID3V2:

Quote
The 'Encoded by' frame contains the name of the person or organisation that encoded the audio file. This field may contain a copyright message, if the audio file also is copyrighted by the encoder.

It is encoded by some online music services and I would like to use it universally to tag where my files have come from.

Although I can read this information in the "FORMAT" window that shows all tags, I don't see a way to allow MC to read/write this tag. I.e., if I create a tag called "Encoded By", it is created as a TXXX tag.

How can I setup MC to read/write to the TENC tag?

The Encoding Settings library field is mapped to the TSSE ID3v2 frame, but TENC is not one of the supported frames.

In the past JRiver has added several requested ID3v2 tags (including TSSE). Perhaps they could add TENC next time they do tagging changes.
