On Jim's suggestion, starting a new thread with the 'issue' in the subject because we're both stumped. (original thread's subject was "couple of bugs?")

The issue is, as the subject refers to, the fact that whenever I start MJ 8 (newest version) when I have one or more other programs open, it always opens behind whatever open window(s) there are on my desktop.

With ver. 7 it always opened in the foregound (which is is what I want 8 to do as well)

Any suggestions, ideas?

That's the way it does for me, too. It is only mildly annoying, though. Just click on the button and it comes out of hiding.

Have you selected 'Enable Media Jukebox shell integration' from the general settings in options? I'm scratching for a solution here.

Try stopping all other software running, just as a test.  Something is fooling around with the video display.

Yes I have. Pretty much all my settings are the same as they were in version 7.

Not sure I understand the point of this suggestion as what I'm trying to get is for MJ to open in the foreground when I've got other programs running. Also not sure what the video display has to do with opening foreground/background windows. Am I being dense or can you explain this a bit more?

Also, as I said before, this didn't happen til I upgraded from 7 to 8. 7 always opened in the foreground when other program windows were open.

Ok, chalk one up to weird computers.

Just for the heck of it I decided to uninstall and reinstall MJ again. The one difference this time was that I let it uninstall all registry settings. Lo and behold, it now opens in the foreground when I start it while having other program windows open. I guess that it must have been something in the registry after all.

Not a problem although I'm only assuming that it was a registry issue. It might have just been a 'ghost in the machine'.

I found the same happening here.  I fixed it in a different way.  Using MS's "tweakui" I went to the "General" tab and unchecked "Prevent applications from stealing focus".  After that, starting MJ puts it up front.

This could be related to the problem we've had with RealOne stealing file types.

I have no Real software on my computer ... that I know of.

Got anything else? As I say, it's not a very big problem for me, just another window.
