while in my trial period i had to do a system restore on my win7 64 bit machine. when i tried to do a reinstall of mc15 v.15.0.174 it said my 31 day trial period was up. i believe i still had approx. 25 days left. what can i do.

Sorry, but for obvious reasons, we have no way to reset a trial.

Perhaps you could try on another computer.

There is no "trial license". Obviously JimH thought that a bought license got invalidated for some reason (the displayed message would have been the same).

Fortunately you can now install the MC16 Beta trial (assuming the expired trial was MC15). If you decide to buy you will get the MC16 license anyway (It'll work with MC15 and MC16).
