« on: October 28, 2009, 12:36:25 pm »

Hi,
I have bought a DVB-T USB receiver and wondered if I can use this on MC ver.11.1?

I don't think it will work, but you could try it.

You could also try it in MC14.  DVB-T is supported there.

Thanks for a quick reply. I have tried it in MC11.1. In the TV Configuration window drop down 'Digital TV Devices', '01.AF9015 BDA Filter' is the only choice. The driver installed for the USB stick is listed as 'AF9035 BDA Device' so I asume there is a connection here? When I press the 'Digital Chan' button I get a error message saying 'Failed to play TV. (unknown error)'. I guess that confirms that i will not work or is it something else I have to do?

If "Scan for Channels" is available, try it.

Here's the information on how to upgrade to MC14.  You can try it for 30 days without paying.

Hello again,
I've now bought  new USB DVB-T from Pinnacle.  It works with the Pinnacle SW. I've also downloaded MC 14. MC 14 recognise the TV device but none of the Norwegian channels are found when scanning for channels. Why not? I see that I can add the channels manually but I don't have all teh details needed for the channels here.

Can you email me a log of trying to scan for channels?  I see no reason why you would not be able to get the channels as the frequency table for Norway is included.

Your log shows MC only found two channels:

Service Name: Eurosport, Service ID: 312, Video PID: 0, Audio PID: 772, PMT PID: 312

Service Name: National Geographic, Service ID: 308, Video PID: 0, Audio PID: 760, PMT PID: 308, Teletext: 577

Did you see these channels?  Can you watch them?

This is very suspicious: "Video PID: 0".  A number of entries were also found with Audio PID being 0.  Those were not recorded by MC.  At least you should have gotten the two entries above.

Thanks. 2 channels are found but I can't actually see the channels. These channels are not possible to view unless you pay for it. There should be 3 channels that are free to watch here in Norway. NRK1, NRK2 and NRK3. I did try to add NRK1 manually but didn't have all the details needed. Could that explain the "Video PID: 0"?

Alright, there are a bunch of them, all having Video PID and Audio PID of 0.  That is why they are ignored.  Please try manually entering some of the following and see if they work:

Freq: 514000 (try 634000 if 51300 does not work),
Bandwidth: 8
Network ID: 13316,
TSID: 410,
Original NID: 8770

Individual channel parameters (you need Name, Service ID, and Audio PID):

Service ID 111 (NTV, NRK Folkemusikk), PMT PID 287, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 112 (NTV, NRK Stortinget), PMT PID 288, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 113 (NTV, NRK Super), PMT PID 289, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 115 (NTV, NRK Gull), PMT PID 291, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 116 (NTV, NRK Jazz), PMT PID 292, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 122 (NTV, Bootload), PMT PID 298, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 103 (NTV, NRK Super / NRK3), PMT PID 265, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 104 (NTV, NRK Tegnspråk), PMT PID 268, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 105 (NTV, NRK P2), PMT PID 281, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Service ID 1006 (NTV, NRK1 Rogaland), PMT PID 262, video PID 0, audio PID 0

Thanks. But when I enter Audio PID = 0 I get a message saying that this has to be a positive value. Not able to find anywhere for PMT PID either. What do I do?

Thanks for the new dll. The channels are now found when I scan but when I try to start one of them I get the following message: 'Time out waiting for writer to start. Possible cause: No signal or faulty device.'

I can see the channels fine when using the SW that came with the device (Pinnacle TVCenter Pro).

I am not sure what the problem is.  Maybe the 0 values for audio PID and video PID have something to do with it.  However, we do not even need to pass the values to the tuner in order to get tuned.

I wonder if other users in Norway have the same problem.

Another thing I can think of is to try finding out the correct Audio PID value for each TV channel, and correct it manually.  You can also try changing the frequency values for each channel.

Hi,
Old topic but I hope somone can help anyway.
I never did get this to work.
I've now upgraded to Win7 and MC 15.0.174.
Same TV-tuner. With the SW (TVCENTER) that came with the Tuner it now works well.
Channel info from TV center for NRK3:
Freq: 634 Mhz
Original Network Id: 8770
Transport Stream Id: 410
Service Id: 103
Pmt Pid: 265
Pcr Pid: 8190

Some of these I recognise in MC but not all.

Anyone that can tell me the settings needed in MC for this channel to work there?
